Help Out At CATS...

There are many ways you can help us care for strays. Check below and see what you can do to really make a difference. If anyone has a particular talent/service/idea to offer that is not listed here that may be useful to the organization, please contact Lynn at (201) 666-5444 and let us know. The homeless nd abandoned animals in our community need your help.

Short-Term Volunteers Needed!

If any of you have ever wanted to volunteer your time, but your time is limited, we have the job for you! So many come to us wanting to volunteer in our Resale Shop, but it's a small space and we currently don't have enough chores for more than six people at a time in one day. For those who want to work hands on with animals, here's your chance!

Lately, we've been receiving many calls for help with backyard strays and ferals. In these situations, we trap, neuter and then adopt or release the animals we capture -- and here's where we need the help. Volunteers would be taught to set and maintain the humane traps, and bring the captured animals to us. Trapping is quite simple. It can be done at any time, and takes perhaps one or two hours per week. It is preferred that the trapping be done in the morning or in the early evening, but any time that can be donated would be beneficial and the scheduling is completely up to you.

Once we have enough people interested, there will be a session to demonstrate how to use our humane traps and teach the ins and outs of trapping. In the end, trapping, neutering and returning helps to prevent more unwanted litters from being born, which in turn reduces the overpopulation problem. We don't euthanize ferals/strays.

If you are interested in helping us out, please contact the store at your convenience.

We thank you for your help!
