Did you know that October is Black Cat Awareness Month? This special month is dedicated to celebrating beautiful black cats, raising awareness about the misconceptions surrounding them, and encouraging more people to open their hearts and homes to these wonderful companions! For centuries, black cats have been surrounded by myths and superstitions, especially around Halloween. Unfortunately, some of these outdated beliefs still influence how people perceive them today. But the truth is, black cats are just as loving, playful, affectionate, and deserving of wonderful homes as cats of any other color! Their beautiful dark coats, bright eyes, and unique personalities make them truly special. At C.A.T.S. (Caring About The Strays), Inc., we believe every cat deserves a chance at a happy, loving life, regardless of their color, age, or background. We have some beautiful black cats among our adoptable cats and kittens, each with their own personality and story, just waiting for someone to fall in love with them! And of course, we have many other wonderful cats and kittens looking for their forever families, too! Thinking about adopting? We invite you to browse all of our available cats and kittens and see if your perfect companion is waiting for you! Resale/Thrift Shop customers! "Today I stumbled upon a hidden gem just a hop over the New York border, an enchanting little resale shop in Westwood, New Jersey called Caring About the Strays. From the outside, it might look like any other thrift store, but the moment you step inside, the magic begins. The first thing you notice isn't the shelves full of treasures, it's the welcoming committee of free-roaming cats, each with a story, a personality, and a purr just waiting to be shared. Two incredible women run the shop, and their warmth fills every corner of the space. Their hearts are wide open, and their love for these animals radiates from them like sunlight. The shop itself is a beautiful mix of donated items, vintage jewelry, delicate glassware, unique clothing, household finds, and everything in between. I was searching for something special: old plates I could repurpose into art for my own shop. I believe in breathing new life into forgotten things, turning the old into something meaningful and new. And what better place to find that kind of beauty than a place already built on compassion and second chances? As I browsed, I met a one-eyed cat who instantly reminded me of my beloved Chance, who passed away last summer. There was something in his gaze, resilient and soulful that captured our hearts. My daughter was smitten. He was just one of many beautiful cats waiting for a foster home or a forever family. Caring About the Strays isn't just a store. It's a sanctuary. A second chance for the animals who need it most. A place where kindness lives in every donation, every purchase, and every person who walks through the door. If you're in the area, please visit. If you have gently used items to donate, they will be turned into hope and help for so many deserving cats. I left the shop today with a bag of plates, a heart full of gratitude, and a deep admiration for the work being done there. There are places in this world that quietly do extraordinary things. This is one of them." - Facebook check-in by Barbara Wilt Beckmann https://images.squarespace-cdn.com/content/v1/56fe8603746fb9c9ad4e4301/450ff185-c59a-4e39-b3f2-8dda6d2990fe/shop+volunteers.png HOME - Make it stand out Whatever it is, the way you tell your story online can make all the difference. https://images.squarespace-cdn.com/content/v1/56fe8603746fb9c9ad4e4301/2907d6db-0aae-4219-84cf-178f278de221/Cream+And+Brown+Modern+5+Ways+To+Manage+Finances+Well+Instagram+Post.png HOME - How You Can Help There are many meaningful ways to support Caring About The Strays (C.A.T.S.), Inc.! Resale/Thrift Shop - We love hearing from C.A.T.S. This is one of them." - Facebook check-in by Barbara Wilt Beckmann https://images.squarespace-cdn.com/content/v1/56fe8603746fb9c9ad4e4301/abc2be79-ab51-4287-9bb6-a8eb3cc93318/1-1.jpg C.A.T.S.
