From the outside, it might look like any other thrift store, but the moment you step inside, the magic begins. The first thing you notice isn't the shelves full of treasures, it's the welcoming committee of free-roaming cats, each with a story, a personality, and a purr just waiting to be shared. Two incredible women run the shop, and their warmth fills every corner of the space. Their hearts are wide open, and their love for these animals radiates from them like sunlight. The shop itself is a beautiful mix of donated items, vintage jewelry, delicate glassware, unique clothing, household finds, and everything in between. I was searching for something special: old plates I could repurpose into art for my own shop. I believe in breathing new life into forgotten things, turning the old into something meaningful and new. And what better place to find that kind of beauty than a place already built on compassion and second chances? As I browsed, I met a one-eyed cat who instantly reminded me of my beloved Chance, who passed away last summer. There was something in his gaze, resilient and soulful that captured our hearts. My daughter was smitten. He was just one of many beautiful cats waiting for a foster home or a forever family. Caring About the Strays isn't just a store. It's a sanctuary. "Today I stumbled upon a hidden gem just a hop over the New York border, an enchanting little resale shop in Westwood, New Jersey called Caring About the Strays. From the outside, it might look like any other thrift store, but the moment you step inside, the magic begins. The first thing you notice isn't the shelves full of treasures, it's the welcoming committee of free-roaming cats, each with a story, a personality, and a purr just waiting to be shared. Two incredible women run the shop, and their warmth fills every corner of the space. Their hearts are wide open, and their love for these animals radiates from them like sunlight. The shop itself is a beautiful mix of donated items, vintage jewelry, delicate glassware, unique clothing, household finds, and everything in between. I was searching for something special: old plates I could repurpose into art for my own shop. I believe in breathing new life into forgotten things, turning the old into something meaningful and new. And what better place to find that kind of beauty than a place already built on compassion and second chances? As I browsed, I met a one-eyed cat who instantly reminded me of my beloved Chance, who passed away last summer. There was something in his gaze, resilient and soulful that captured our hearts. My daughter was smitten. He was just one of many beautiful cats waiting for a foster home or a forever family. Caring About the Strays isn't just a store. It's a sanctuary.
